March on Washington

This would be a great place to post about how we might get organized on our trip. We'll need to keep in touch with one another so we can attend meetings together and meet so we can march together on Saturday. Sign in!

FYI, each state will have a designated area at the event. Find the Louisiana flag.

Here is an email I received about the trip. Also here is the main website.
http://912dc.org/ there is much information on it.

ear Friend,

We are continuing to build momentum for the September 12th March on Washington. Since we are only two weeks out, we thought we would provide some more detailed information about the 3-day event.

First, make sure you register for the FreedomWorks Liberty Summit on Thursday, Sept. 10. If you already have done so, there is no need to register again. In addition to advice on grassroots organizing and lobbying, the Liberty Summit will also feature educational panels on healthcare, the cap and trade energy tax and bailouts. Leading policy experts and conservatives in Congress will participate in these panels. The event will take place at the DC Armory, which is located right next to RFK Stadium (great for parking buses) at 2001 East Capitol Street Southeast, in Washington, DC. The DC Armory is also right on the Metro (you want the “Stadium-Armory” Metro stop accessible by either the Blue or Orange lines), which makes it a convenient location to hold such a large event.

After the Liberty Summit ends, we will head over to Upper Senate Park for a press conference at 1 p.m. Then, it's time to storm the Capitol offices and meet with your Senators and Congressmen to talk about “cap and tax,” health care and other pressing issues. We encourage you to make appointments with these offices ahead of time. If you would like help with that please contact Josh Eboch (jeboch@freedomworks.org) in our office.

See the agenda page of the website to get a sense of what is happening on Friday, Sept. 11. There are a lot of options for activities that day. We have some great training sessions available, as well as time for more grassroots lobbying, and we end the day with a chance to support the wounded troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

Saturday morning, Sept. 12, is the big day for the March on Washington. We will be gathering at Freedom Plaza at 9 a.m. and will hear from grassroots leaders from around the country. We will have a stage and some music to go along with the speakers. Folks are encouraged to line up by state, so just look for your state flag and gather with your group the best you can. We will also make announcements from the stage about the order of the states.

Our new start time for the March itself is 11:30 a.m., but we should remain flexible in case something changes. The police are working with us to ensure a successful event, and they will be providing the security and road closures necessary to get us all the way down Pennsylvania Avenue to the Capitol.

Please check 912dc.org daily for new information, updates, time changes, and other news about the March on Washington. This will be the best source of information for the event, and we are getting too many calls and emails to respond to every one. So we will post frequently asked questions as needed. Thanks for your continued support of FreedomWorks Foundation, Tea Party Patriots, the National Taxpayers Union, Resistnet, Tea Party Express, Institute for Liberty and the other great sponsors of the March on Washington.

See you in a couple of weeks!

P.S. FreedomWorks has been fortunate to receive generous donations from folks like you that are helping us cover some basic costs for the event. With these donations, we have secured staging, microphone, and other audio equipment. However, there are some fundamental items we still need to secure funding for like portable restrooms, security barricades, and video monitors. If you are in a position to help, please click here to secure an online donation.

Lake Charles is bringing a fairly large banner and at least 2 Louisiana flags.

New member here. My husband and I are flying to DC on the 10th because of work. I have 2 questions:
1) Can the La 'delegation' meet up somewhere on Saturday the 12? Since we are on our own, we want to be part of our state's group.and march with you guys. We're staying in Arlington.
2) Can anyone bring a La state flag?

Thanks!

I am arriving by plane. Can someone bring my sign supplies if going by car? I can bring some stuff like markers but poster board and poles are difficult to bring on a plane. We could have a party...and make signs...I could bring...WINE - I don't drink beer. love, patty

There's a meeting on the morning of the 10th I was hoping to make. But let me take a look at which meeting that is ;) I'm still trying to schedule time with our congressmen but the scheduler wants our zip codes and all that. I don't even know who all is going!?!

What do you guys think about this, forming a caravan of cars driving to DC?

We could plan on leaving on Wed the 9th?

The people from South Louisiana meet in Lafayette Wed morning, then drive up I-49 and meetup with those of us from the North then we can head west on I-20 and meet up with any from Ruston and Monroe?

I sure hope so! It would be great to finally meet you in person and get to know some of our TPP folks. :)
